With the aim of improving the audit quality of pension funds, the Supervisory Commission on Occupational Pensions (OAK BV) has issued a new directive on "quality assurance in audits according to BVG" and defined minimum requirements for the auditors. The directive entered into force on January 1, 2017, whereby a transitional period of two years is applicable for certain requirements. New minimum requirements for the lead auditor:
Practical audit experience in occupational pension plans of 50 chargeable audit hours per calendar year;
Technical training for four hours per calendar year.
